  2. The worst development in filmmaking—particularly in the last five years—is how badly directors are treated. It’s become absolutely horrible the way the people with the money decide they can fart in the kitchen, to put it bluntly. It’s not just studios—it’s anyone who is financing a film. I guess I don’t understand the assumption that the director is presumptively wrong about what the audience wants or needs when they are the first audience, in a way. And probably got into making movies because of being in that audience.

But an alarming thing I learned during Contagion is that the people who pay to make the movies and the audiences who see them are actually very much in sync. I remember during previews how upset the audience was by the Jude Law character. The fact that he created a sort of mixed reaction was viewed as a flaw in the filmmaking. Not, “Oh, that’s interesting, I’m not sure if this guy is an asshole or a hero.” People were really annoyed by that. And I thought, Wow, so ambiguity is not on the table anymore. They were angry.

“I have to say, I never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined that, unlike myself, my kids would someday have the opportunity to re-enact America’s slave trade the way my great-grandfather did! How exciting for them! Never mind those silly dolls showing racial equality and putting ‘black Americans’ (hah! is that the word we want to really use here?) in a positive light — no! With this, my kids can experience first-hand what it might have been like to own their very own slave!”

The Django Unchained action figures are receiving a lot of backlash

From the A.V. Club:

Of course, like nearly all NECA figures, the Django Unchained line isn’t technically meant to be played with: It’s intended for ages 15 and up, and the prohibitive cost of around $30 per figure suggests that theselittle people just aren’t meant to be free. No, they’re made to be kept penned up in their boxes, where you can look upon them every day and feel like a big man.

I am working on an experiment in Film and Design. Starting this week I will be Working on a Massive Conceptual Film Poster Series. This Series is unlike anything I have ever worked on before. I will be picking several Different Films, spanning all genres of the Hollywood Studio system. Each Film will get a record 8 different Posters, but some may run a little more then 8. With my calculations I am hopefully to have over 100 different designs. I am still in the process of selecting all the films that will make the cut. So I encourage you all to send in some movies that you love for their enduring images and themes.

This is a major challenge and I am eager to share what I have so far …

I have completed work on 3 films, As you can see I have selected Stanley Kubrick’s Anti War Picture “Paths of Glory” It’s a film that has had a major influence in my life and i wanted to explore all it’s brutal themes and Images of War.

I will be leaking more designs very soon, both on my Tumblr Site and on my other social outlets (twitter, instagram, Facebook) So please keep an eye out for some special surprises.

    Thank you !
