1. DEBUNKING UPDATE

Many photos and video being circulated of what people believe to be the fertilizer plant explosion near Waco, Texas.

Some of them, however, are NOT ACCURATE.

This video, for example, says it’s of the plant in question.
In reality, it’s video of the PEPCON disaster in 1988. [VIDEO]

    This photo:

Is also NOT of the fertilizer plant explosion.

It’s actually a photo of the 2008 Big Spring refinery explosion.

    So again, BEWARE.

  3. WABCDEFG News. We ask the hard hitting questions! Like, ‘it’s not too much trouble if I get my drink without ice, is it?’

With our veteran reporters, WABCDEFG brings you the news in a way nobody else can. With a smile! And a free cookie! Want a free cookie?

    But seriously..

This was recorded by Matthew Trevithick and Jayden Rogers on March 13/14, 2013 for a college assignment where we had to write our own radio show.

Took a while to edit and compile sound effects, so please have a listen! It would be greatly appreciated!

  4. The awards were slated as a tribute to music in the movies, which led to a series of song-and-dance routines to open, including a satirical parody sung by MacFarlane called, “I Saw Your Boobs.”

The song referenced what many Oscar-winning actresses are forced to do for the movies: show their breasts, regardless of the circumstances of their roles. Among the actresses mentioned were Jodie Foster in The Accused and Hilary Swank in Boys Don’t Cry, two films in which the characters are brutally raped.

Even though the women shown during the song were in on the joke (their reaction shots were obviously pre-recorded) this song became the focal point of the day-after attacks on MacFarlane. Missing, we thought, the entire point of the song: that in Hollywood, women — even when playing victims of violent crime — are reduced to the sum of their body parts, not the sum of their movie parts. But a man singing about “boobs” just had to be bad and sexist and wrong. There couldn’t have been a satirical point being made.

“I have to say, I never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined that, unlike myself, my kids would someday have the opportunity to re-enact America’s slave trade the way my great-grandfather did! How exciting for them! Never mind those silly dolls showing racial equality and putting ‘black Americans’ (hah! is that the word we want to really use here?) in a positive light — no! With this, my kids can experience first-hand what it might have been like to own their very own slave!”

The Django Unchained action figures are receiving a lot of backlash

From the A.V. Club:

Of course, like nearly all NECA figures, the Django Unchained line isn’t technically meant to be played with: It’s intended for ages 15 and up, and the prohibitive cost of around $30 per figure suggests that theselittle people just aren’t meant to be free. No, they’re made to be kept penned up in their boxes, where you can look upon them every day and feel like a big man.

The person, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak on the record about the deal, also said two BP employees face manslaughter charges over the death of 11 people in the explosion of the Deepwater Horizon oil rig that triggered the massive spill.
The person said BP will plead guilty to obstruction for lying to Congress about how much oil was pouring out of the ruptured well. The person declined to say exactly how much the fine in the billions of dollars would be.
